Children’s Center Grows its Autism Services and ABA Therapy in Toronto

A center has extended its autism services and ABA therapy in Toronto to ensure parents can access the very best services for their children – including summer and winter camps.

The House of Child Development offers in-home and after school programs for infants, toddlers and children in the Greater Toronto Area who have development disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), ADHD and learning disabilities.

The Center bases its work on the Miller Method and the Greenspan Floor time Approach which are well known teaching methods to help children to change their behaviour and help them to become more independent. Experts at the Center will work with parents, caregivers and teachers to complement work and therapy that is happening at school and home.

A spokesman from the House of Child Development said: “We work with parents and their children to help develop behavioural skills, speech, language and social skills.

“We work on an appointment basis and offer sessions during the day, after school and at weekends. It all starts with a thorough evaluation of the child. We will interview them in a fun and non-intimidating environment. We will examine the cognitive, academic, behavioural and other developmental factors.

“Once the evaluation is complete, we will make a diagnosis and develop a personalized treatment plan for the child. The plan will depend on the psychological and emotional delays of the child.

“The treatment plan will include regular, scheduled sessions in our center and at home. Our team will recommend extra activities that will help the child in all aspects of their development.

“Checking progress is a really important so we can make sure progress is being made and we can change things accordingly, and this is often to accelerate the program. We will use social and emotional testing to check how the child is improving,” he added.

House of Child Development was founded by Amir Haimove who has 14 years of experience working with children with special needs, ADHD and autism.

The House of Child Development also offers winter and summer camps to enhance a child’s development in a fun and engaging environment. These camps include cooking, animal training, rock climbing, swimming, crafts, outdoor activities, games, drama and music.

“These camps can transform a young person who has autism, ADHD, anxiety and other disorders. By taking part in very social activities, they will naturally improve in the academic side of their development, it will help to improve their self esteem and confidence.

“The camps, which usually take place during the summer holidays and March break, are run by qualified teaching staff and adults who have extensive experience of working with children with learning disabilities.

“The camps are usually three camps a year that are two weeks in length and are specifically designed for a child’s age and their learning needs,” he added.
